Joining the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery is a straightforward, transparent process designed to welcome qualified surgeons and healthcare professionals into our community. This guide walks you through each step, from eligibility verification to approval and payment setup.
Verify your eligibility
Before applying, confirm you meet the requirements for your chosen membership tier.
- Full member: Certified in Otolaryngology, Plastic, Maxillofacial holding an MD degree, Ophthalmic surgery, Dermatology or equivalent by a nationally recognised authority in Europe or elsewhere, active practice in facial plastic surgery.
- Junior member: Doctors in training in Facial Plastic Surgery fellowships, Otolaryngology, Plastic, Maxillofacial holding an MD degree, Ophthalmic surgery, Dermatology or equivalent who have interest in facial plastic surgery.
- Senior member: Retired from active clinical practice, significant professional history in facial plastic surgery.

Gather your documents
All documents must be in English. Scanned copies are accepted.
- Required: professional CV (max 3 pages), copy of medical degree, board registration certificate, proof of specialist in training (for junior members).
- Optional: publications, letters from mentors or supervisors, evidence of EAFPS event attendance.
Identify your sponsors
Sponsors must be active EAFPS Full or Senior Members who can vouch for your qualifications. Full and Senior members require 2 sponsors. Junior members require 2 sponsors (mentor or supervisor preferred).

Complete the online application & payment
Estimated time: 15–20 minutes once documents are ready.
The form covers personal and contact details, specialty and qualifications, sponsor information, CV and document uploads, membership tier selection, professional standards declaration, and payment.
- Full member: €295/year
- Junior member: €150/year
- Senior member: €125/year
Membership auto-renews annually. Cancel at any time access continues through the end of your paid period.
Membership Committee review
Applications are assessed within 10–15 business days.
- Days 1–5: eligibility screening and document verification
- Days 5–10: committee review of qualifications and sponsorship
- Days 10–15: decision notification by email (approved / conditional / not approved)

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t have 2 sponsors yet?
Contact the Membership Committee at eafps@eafps.org. We can facilitate introductions with appropriate EAFPS members in your region or specialty. Finding sponsors shouldn’t delay your application.
Can I apply for a different membership tier later?
Yes. You can request a tier change at any time (e.g., Junior to Full Member upon completion of training, Full to Senior Member upon retirement). Contact the Membership Committee to discuss your transition.
What if my medical degree is from outside Europe?
International degrees are considered valid. Provide comprehensive documentation including board certification from your country/region. The Membership Committee will assess equivalency.
Is my membership transferable if I relocate?
Your membership remains active regardless of geographic location, as long as you maintain professional practice (or retirement status for Senior Members) and continue annual payments. You can update your practice location in your Member Dashboard.
What happens if I don’t pay my renewal?
You’ll receive reminder emails at 30 and 7 days before renewal. If payment isn’t received, you have a 3-month grace period during which you receive escalating reminders. After 3 months, your account is suspended (directory listing removed, journal access paused). Reactivate by paying your renewal no reapplication needed.
Can I cancel my membership anytime?
Yes. You can cancel membership at any time, and your access continues through your paid membership period. Cancellation takes effect at your next renewal date (no refunds for partial years). To cancel, contact eafps@eafps.org.
